We’re currently searching for a progressive and team-minded Director to lead our Thomas Cook Counseling Center in Blacksburg, VA. So, if you’re passionate about developing innovative solutions and strategies to deliver needed services for students, please keep reading.

Here’s what you need to know about the role:
1) You’ll be leading a team which provides multiple levels of support to a 35,000+ student population—including: traditional services through our Cook Counseling Center; 24/7/365 teletherapy through our partnership with TimelyCare; and embedded counselors in our colleges, our residential community, our sports facilities, our graduate school, and our campuses in Blacksburg, Roanoke, and Alexandria.
2) You’ll be responsible for providing vision and strategic leadership to a multidisciplinary team of 50+ staff (which includes administrative/professional faculty, predoctoral interns, practicum students, and classified employees) which collectively provides individual and group psychotherapy, psychiatric consultation, animal assisted therapy, sports psychology, crisis consultation and emergency services, as well as outreach and educational programs to assist students.
3) You’ll be accountable for day-to-day operations, budgeting and resource management, data-driven decision making, assessment-based continuous improvement, and adherence to all regulatory, professional, and accreditation-based standards (APA, AUCCCD, ACHA, IACS, etc.).
4) You’ll be reporting to the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Health and Well-Being, within the Division of Student Affairs, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative/professional appointment. 
5) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $135,000-$160,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

• You'll need to be licensed or licensed-eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia in a mental health profession. It is expected that the successful candidate is licensed by November 2023.
• You’ll need to demonstrate that you have extensive experience leading, supervising, motivating, and training multi-disciplinary clinical staff.
• You’ll need to demonstrate that you have extensive experience with managing administrative and financial processes—including developing and managing operating budgets in excess of $2M.
• You’ll need to demonstrate that you have significant experience fostering diverse and inclusive environments and establishing positive, productive working relationships with diverse groups of constituents.
• You’ll need to demonstrate that you have considerable experience providing clinical services to a multi-cultural, college-aged population.
• You’ll need to demonstrate that you have significant experience with developing and delivering creative/innovative student mental health programs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IACS accreditation standards.
• Experience with APA approved pre-doctoral program in Counseling or Clinical Psychology.
• Experience using technology to enhance the delivery of psychological services.
• Tele-therapy experience.
• Prior experience as a director for a college or university counseling center.
