Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Manager, Transfer Center coordinates and facilitates better processes and procedures for student transfer success. Provides leadership and supervision to ensure excellent student service and implements policies and procedures that align with Lone Star College's mission. Establishes Lone Star College's reputation as the most transfer-friendly community college connection in the state. Responsible for the coordination of the LSC Foundation of Excellence guidelines for the founding of the Transfer Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans and provides leadership for Transfer Center; responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Transfer Center and staff.
  • Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates staff as needed.
  • Serves as liaison between colleges and universities and LSCS enrollment services.
  • Collaborates with major transfer senior colleges and universities as suggested through the findings of FoE.
  • Coordinates and oversees institutional transfer access programs that offer students a structured, guaranteed pathway for attaining a four-year baccalaureate degree.
  • Provides expertise in the creation of transfer access and degree completion initiatives/programs and improvements to the overall transfer experience for students.
  • Provides academic advising to ensure transfer students have current information related to transfer admission, advising, registration, degree plans, financial aid, and other pertinent information about senior institutions.
  • Collaborates with the System office in articulation agreements with all LSCS college partner institutions and works within this framework to develop procedures that remove barriers, ensuring successful and seamless transfers.
  • Works closely with partner colleges and universities to create and maintain critical transfer documents such as the College and University's Transfer Guides.
  • Maintains, manages, and reports on student transfer data.
  • Collaborates with Student Development and Instructional Affairs offices to ensure that all transfer plans and policies are implemented across all departments of the College.
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES :

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree or higher and at least 3 years of related work experience in advising or related student service oriented filed.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master's degree
    • 3+ years of related work experience in academic advising, program coordination, student services and/or student affairs experience preferred
    • Sound knowledge of academic and occupational programs, university articulation agreements, and career assessment and advisement
    • Student service background and sensitivity to student accommodations for achievement.
    • Experience working and communicating with a diverse student population
    Salary

    Hiring salary range is $48,152 - $55,375

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
