Description: Assisting the Director and working closely with Career Services team, this position has the overall responsibility for carrying out the office’s vision and strategic objectives, internal management of the office’s services and resources, coaching students on career development topics, and providing key secondary leadership to the team. He/she will serve as primary lead for developing and managing the online and print career resource documents, coordinating and scheduling programming for students during the year, and overseeing the calendar for events and programming for fall and spring semesters.  This candidate will assist in advancing the mission of the office by providing career guidance to students in the realms of self-assessment, career exploration, internship and job search advising, among other areas, and guiding students through the process of discovering their vocational callings.  Additionally, the Associate Director will aid students in the career development process through other means, including presenting in workshops, giving classroom presentations, as well as developing and implementing career-related programs and events.  Moreover, this position will be responsible for developing positive and professional relationships with students, employers, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents.  With respect to faculty, he/she will serve as a liaison to six academic departments on campus and be charged with developing initiatives and programs to cultivate relationships with the students and professors in those programs.

 

Requirements:  Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education administration, college student development, counseling, human resources, or related field strongly preferred.  Three to five years of experience in career coaching/counseling, career development, student development, higher education, counseling, recruiting, or human resources is required.

 

The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication ability, strong attention to detail, multi-tasking and time management skills, organizational acumen, analytical skills along with a desire to work on a high-impact, energetic, collaborative team.  Technical aptitude and proficient computer skills are vital as the individual will be regularly utilizing our Handshake online career management platform, web-based career resources, and social media.  Moreover, he/she should be skilled in career counseling/coaching and possess a knowledge of career-related resources.  The candidate must also demonstrate a strong commitment to meeting student and employer needs, and be able to maintain a professional, positive, and service-oriented attitude. Finally, the individual should be aligned with the overarching Christian mission of the college and office, contributing to its mission of helping students realize and pursue their vocational callings.
