Position Purpose
Human Resources Consultant – Labor Relations
This position will serve as a dedicated employee and labor relations resource for the Hood Museum, The Hop, Safety & Security, Campus Services, Athletics, and other departments as assigned. This position will largely interact with both management and SEIU and IATSE members.
In consultation with the Director and/or Senior Human Resources Consultants, duties will include, but not be limited to, the following: providing strategic and responsive human resources consulting services to campus departments and divisions in the areas of employee/labor relations, performance management, and organizational development and effectiveness; serving as a resource in the interpretation, application, development and administration of HR policies, programs, and procedures as well as collective bargaining agreements; providing training in human resources policy, practices and CBA administration; providing advice and counsel for reorganizations; and participating in MOU development, grievance and arbitration meetings, and negotiations.

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Four to five years of human resources experience in a generalist or employee/labor relations consulting role, including experience in collective bargaining and labor relations.
- Experience interpreting and applying policies and collective bargaining agreement provisions. Sound reasoning and decision-making ability based on a mix of analysis, experience and good judgment.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Strong writing, editing, and oral presentation skills
- A graduate degree in human resources, law, business or related field.
- Previous experience working in an academic environment is highly desirable.
- 4-5 years of experience in an employee/labor relations role within a complex organization, including the administration of multiple collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience working with a case management system.
