The Hamline School of Business in Saint Paul, Minnesota, seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Quantitative Analysis with a secondary field in economics, information systems, marketing or related fields.

Hamline is the oldest university in the state of Minnesota and has more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students.  Ranked first in quality and value among universities in Minnesota by U.S. News and World Report.  Hamline is ranked best college or university for socioeconomic mobility post-graduation by ThirdWay.org and is Minnesota’s only nonprofit institution in that group.  Hamline’s mission is to create a diverse and collaborative community of learners dedicated to the development of students’ knowledge, values, and skills for successful lives of leadership, scholarship, and service.  The university consists of the School of Business, College of Liberal Arts, and School of Education and Leadership.

The business school houses undergraduate and graduate programs in business, public administration, and nonprofit management at its campuses in Saint Paul and Minneapolis.  In addition, it is the home of the Center for Public Administration and Leadership.  Our vision is to be the place “Where the business, government, and non-profit sectors intersect to educate and collaborate for the common good.”

At the undergraduate level, the school offers a Bachelor in Business Administration with concentrations in accounting, business analytics, finance, international business, management, and marketing and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with concentrations in analytical economics and financial economics.  In addition, we have minors in business analytics, business practice, economics, management and nonprofit management.

At the graduate level, the school offers the following graduate degrees:  Master of Business Administration, Master of Nonprofit Management, Master of Public Administration, and Doctorate in Public Administration as well as sequential degrees, dual degrees, and a joint MBA/JD degree with the Mitchell Hamline Law School. 

As a result of the university’s Strategic Plan, the School of Business is expanding its undergraduate and graduate program offerings to meet the needs of students who require the skills and knowledge to succeed in the rapidly changing realities of our local and global communities.  In addition, the school is dedicated to preparing students to work across sectors to solve the complex issues facing today’s society.  Faculty members play a pivotal role in developing new courses and professional development programs, as well as ensuring a high level of learning through assessment activities. 

Teaching responsibilities include six courses per year, primarily in the area of business analytics.  Courses in this area might include: undergraduate Introduction to Business Analytics, Data Mining, Data Management and Communication, Advanced Business Analytics, graduate Data Analytics and Decision Making, Databases and Data Management, Machine Learning (I and II) and other courses as needed.  We are seeking candidates that have prior teaching experience in the course content areas specified or a strong willingness to develop expertise in these areas.  Courses taught may address general curriculum requirements that fulfill the Hamline Plan and faculty members are responsible for periodically offering a First Year Seminar to incoming students.  (http://bulletin.hamline.edu/)

Evidence of excellence in teaching is essential.  A completed Ph.D. or D.B.A. or ABD in one of the following fields:  Economics, Decision Sciences, or Marketing with a strong emphasis on data analytics.  ABD candidates will be considered with anticipated completion within the first year of appointment.  Candidates must have demonstrable competencies in teaching.  Candidates must be committed to the development of skills necessary for advising and mentoring students from culturally diverse backgrounds, and to the promotion and enhancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in support of academic excellence.  Preference will be given to candidates with a record of scholarly publications and a demonstrated commitment to an active research agenda.
