Class Description

The purpose of this class is to promote student success with institutional and external partners in coordinating mental health and social services programming/referrals. Assists with the coordination of services and programs designed to minimize the impact of mental illness, emotional distress or situational stressors on the academic pursuits of students.

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale .

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required, degree in counseling, social work, psychology, health or related field and Master’s degree preferred. Two (2) years of full time counseling, social work or human services experience. Background working with adult at-risk populations preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Remain knowledgeable about the College, its structure, culture, policies, and practices.
  2. Serve as a point of contact for internal and external organizations
  3. Assist with preparing and analyzing reports, as requested.
  4. Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures, as required.
  5. Serve as an advocate for the College and its students, as required
  6. Serve as a liaison between College departments, faculty and/or staff, as required.
  7. Serve on appropriate departmental, division and college-wide committees.

Position Specific Essential Duties

  1. Coordinate initiatives specific to the College and Community Outreach Services mission of basic needs security and mental health awareness.
  2. Serve as an advocate for student success and possess a demonstrated ability to mulitask and manage a diverse caseload.
  3. Implement technology resources to allow for online student support including but not limited to: online portal for success navigator services, home-share/ride-share databases, and overall website presence.
  4. Assist students with social service needs including, but not limited to, referral to community resources and facilitating access to external mental health treatment.
  5. Follow up to ensure that students are appropriately assessed and successfully referred.
  6. Consult with faculty, staff and students who are concerned about a student.
  7. Engage faculty, students and staff to promote and sustain student funding resources (i.e. Student Helping Students fund, Student Emergency Assistance Grant.
  8. Assist in the coordination of all College and Community Outreach Services events.
  9. Conduct case management activities for students: e.g. memos, correspondence and case histories as needed.
  10. Evaluate effectiveness of programs, practices, and interventions through regular reporting, data collection and analyzing information.
  11. Demonstrate effective leadership for current or upcoming initiatives involving CCBC faculty/staff, community organizations or CCBC students.
  12. Serve as a college liaison for the College and Community Outreach Services department, when needed, for on/off campus partners and organizations.

Long-Term Disability

Plan pays 60% of gross monthly salary after 90 consecutive days of absence. Employee pays 100% of premium.

    The 403(b) supplemental retirement plan is available to all CCBC employees (Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees).
  • Roth 403(b) is a savings feature that is available when you open a 403(b) account. The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.

McDaniel College has extended its Educator’s Legacy Scholarship (ELS) program to CCBC benefits-eligible employees. CCBC is among the inaugural community college partners.

Children of ANY current full-time benefits-eligible CCBC employee with at least four years of continuous full-time employment are eligible to receive a scholarship valued at up to $100,000 over four (4) years.
