The School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions at Indiana University Kokomo invites applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer to join the new baccalaureate Occupational Therapy Assistant applicant program starting Aug.1, 2023. This faculty member would serve full-time on a 10-month contract. Students are anticipated to be admitted into the Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences (OTA track) program starting fall of 2023. The Visiting Lecturer of the OTA program will be responsible for teaching in the program and for service to the program and School of Nursing and Allied Health Programs. 

Qualifications include: 

  • Hold or be eligible for a license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Indiana 
  • Initially certified by NBCOT, or its predecessor 
  • Hold a minimum of a Master’s degree or a Baccalaureate degree with demonstrated equivalent clinical experience, awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body 
  • Have at least two years of clinical practice in adult rehabilitation. 
  • Previous experience in OTA education is desirable  

Duties and Responsibilities include: 

  • Plan curricula by assisting in the development and implementation of assigned courses in the OTA program 
  • Assist in the continued development and evaluation of course objectives, program outcomes, and completion of the ACOTE accreditation process 
  • Develop learning experiences and materials necessary to implement the OTA curriculum and to facilitate mastery of content 
  • Adhere to school and program policies and procedures 
  • Advise assigned students admitted to the OTA program 
  • Maintain or gain expertise in assigned areas of teaching and in teaching methodologies being used. 
  • Seek improvement and innovation in strategies that may improve student learning outcomes and satisfaction 
  • Select high-quality evaluative measures to assess student learning/performance 
  • Participate in gathering and analysis of program evaluation data 
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary and agreed upon by the Lecturer and Program Director 
  • Engage in work and professional responsibilities consistent with the strategic priorities, mission, and vision of the program, school, and university. 
  • Adhere to programmatic, school, and university policies and procedures, as well as the AOTA Code of Ethics (AOTA, 2021), Standards of Continuing Competence (AOTA, 2021), and Standards of Practice for Occupational Therapy (AOTA, 2021) 
  • Collaborate with other faculty within the program, school, and university as necessary to implement the curriculum. 
  • Serve on program, school, and university committees as appropriate and demonstrate leadership as the faculty role progresses 
  • Participate in admissions and student recruitment/retention activities 
  • Engage in service within the organization and outside the organization
