Description

The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University invites applicants for a teaching-track position in Strategic Management to begin in fall 2023. The teaching track at Carnegie Mellon is a full-time faculty position subject to a tri-annual review and promotion process, and has assistant professor, associate professor, and professor ranks. All levels will be considered for this position, but we particularly seek applicants at the assistant or associate professor level. While teaching track faculty can pursue research activities, they are neither required nor expected to do so; their evaluation is based on teaching, educational, and service contributions.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a graduate degree related to business management, preferably an MBA or a PhD in a discipline related to Strategic Management (including Strategy, Management, Sociology, or Economics), and multiple years of teaching experience in a university classroom. Alternatively, teaching experience within consulting engagements will also be considered. The ideal candidate has the ability to discuss strategic management across a variety of industries and business problems that face managers in today’s business environment. Teaching assignments may span all our educational programs including the MBA, MS (e.g., Master of Science in Business Analytics or Product Management), and Undergraduate Business programs. Courses will involve lecture style courses as well as simulation-based instruction. Experience with simulation-based instruction is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a potential for and commitment to teaching excellence.
