Job Description:

Rhodes College is hiring a Director of Assessment and Academic Effectiveness who will report to the Dean for Faculty Reviews and Assessment. This Director is responsible for assessment of the academic program and data stewardship in Academic Affairs.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide expertise and support for faculty on the design, implementation, and analysis of student learning, including best practices in the assessment of student learning in higher education, reporting practices, and interpreting assessment results to guide improvements.
  • Develop assessment initiatives that align with accreditation requirements and continuous improvement efforts including working with QEP initiatives and other Southern Association of Colleges and Schools-Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) compliance requirements along with assessment tools related to campus climate and co-curricular campus initiatives.
  • Collect, utilize, and interpret data in order to support decision making, project management, and communications in the Office of Academic Affairs. This includes placing the findings within the context of higher education research, developing or enhancing data visualizations, and generating reports to support assessment and strategic planning.
  • Support the College's SACS liaison to assure compliance, including distance learning accreditation, and learn best practices at peer and aspirational institutions in the areas of distance education and online curricular development.
  • Take responsibility for creating and administering surveys of students and faculty. This includes the student surveys for candidates for faculty reviews. It also includes administering surveys of the faculty developed by higher education consortia, completing annual surveys relating to faculty compensation, and creating/administering ad hoc surveys for Academic Affairs and other faculty committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Three years of relevant professional experience, at least one of which must be in an education assessment related area
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of data gathering, analysis, and reporting
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability make public presentations to relevant constituencies
  • Strong organizational skills
