Job Description

The Department of Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise (HNFE) (http://hnfe.vt.edu) invites applications for a calendar year, non-tenure track Collegiate Assistant/Associate Professor. Collegiate faculty members have a primary commitment to the instructional mission of the department, including undergraduate and graduate teaching, curricular and program innovation and transformation, mentoring students from diverse backgrounds and identities, and building a national reputation in an area of innovative and inclusive instructional pedagogy. Successful candidates should provide evidence of potential to take a lead role in enhancing curricula and promoting teaching excellence.

In addition, the successful candidate will manage (in conjunction with the Graduate Curriculum Administrator) the graduate program and Online Master of Agricultural and Life Sciences (OMALS), and other duties, which include, but are not limited to the following:

● Develop and conduct pedagogical research
● Serve as the departmental liaison with the Graduate School, Dean of the Graduate School, and OMALS director
● Chair the HNFE Graduate Curriculum Committee

Required Qualifications

PhD in exercise physiology and/or nutrition, or a closely related field; Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research; Experience in higher education instructional and pedagogical activities, with strong potential for being a leader in the instructional mission; Demonstrated effectiveness in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching; Commitment to a quality, diverse student education; Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively; Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Postdoctoral training or experience.
