Job Description

The Agricultural & Applied Economics Department in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences seeks to fill a full-time, calendar year Academic and Student Support Advisor position. This administrative/professional faculty position will provide accurate, timely advising services to undergraduate students, undergraduate program coordination, student recruitment and retention, department and college orientation activities, active participation in the First Year Experience programs/courses, and professional representation and communication of the department and its programs to the internal/external university community, public sector, industry and alumni. Work proactively and collaboratively with the college academic affairs office. Seeking candidates willing to proactively work to improve the department and college advising and undergraduate programs and contribute to a collaborative and collegial work environment. Duties are expected to be performed onsite during the academic year.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree (any field); Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail; Experience working with students in an education setting related to advising and/or a degree in any relevant field (i.e., counseling, advising, education, economics, business, social science, or agriculture/life sciences); Ability to work effectively with a diverse population, including students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, employers, and prospective students and their families.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of student development theories and services, counseling skills and recruitment, Member of National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) or similar professional organization; Experience with Banner Student, Canvas, Navigate, and/or Submittable; Demonstrated ongoing professional development within the field of advising; Experience in teaching, adult education, or public outreach
