Overview

The Department of Molecular Biology and the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics (LSI) at Princeton University seeks an Assistant Director, Diversity and Inclusion. The Assistant Director, Diversity and Inclusion will have primary responsibility for recruiting and retaining graduate students underrepresented in STEM (e.g., students of color, women, and socio-economically disadvantaged students) in the Department and Institute. The Assistant Director, Diversity and Inclusion will organize recruiting efforts, foster relationships with minority-serving institutions, develop enrichment courses and programming, represent the Department and Institute at recruiting events off campus, maintain databases for recruiting, reporting, and assessment, and collaborate in writing grants to develop new diversity and inclusion initiatives.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

Recruiting and mentoring graduate students from groups underrepresented in STEM Recruiting candidates for and leading the MOL BIO Scholars program and implementing an analogous program for LSI’s graduate program. Developing the curriculum and coordinating a skills-based course on navigating graduate school Serving as an advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the department and institute

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or a related discipline is required. Applicants should have 4-6 years of work experience in higher education; teaching and mentoring experience are strongly desired. Candidates should have powerful administrative abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and superior cultural competencies to interact with a wide range of people. Applicants should have strong communication skills and should be comfortable speaking in public. Candidates should be proficient in basic Microsoft Office tools. Some travel is required.
