Position Purpose

The Department of Human Services, Human Development and Family Science program at the University of Central Missouri invites applications for one assistant professor position 997301 in the Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Development and Family Science graduate and undergraduate programs. The tenure track position will begin August 8, 2023.

The faculty will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Marriage and Family Therapy and Human Development and Family Science. The position involves scholarly activity and professional service to the program, school, university, and professional organizations. Scholarly activity, such as presentations, grants, and publications, is necessary for promotion and tenure. Preferred candidate will have the ability to utilize technology, experience with learning management systems, and teach online courses. Summer teaching opportunities may be available.

An earned doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, Couple Counseling, Human Development, Family Studies, or related field preferred at time of hire ( ABD considered with degree conferred no later than August 1, 2024).

Candidates should provide evidence of developing a program of research, demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, and engagement in service/outreach; ability to advance department’s commitment to diversity; excellent team collaboration skills, competency in instructional technology, and excellent oral and written communication skills. This position carries responsibilities for teaching, research and service, clinical supervision, including advisement, recruitment and networking with professionals in the field. The position will assist in the implementation of the Marriage and Family Therapy specialization in the Human Development and Family Science MS program. Applicant must hold a license to practice MFT and be an approved supervisor with AAMFT . Preference may be given to candidates with teaching experience, MFT program development, and/or clinic management.
