Fisher Delta Research, Extension, and Education Center (FD-REEC).

Job Description

Manage and execute all tasks related to facilities maintenance for the Fisher Delta Research, Extension, and Education Center (FD-REEC). Tasks include but not limited to minor repairs, groundskeeping, minor landscaping, custodial services, and supervising student employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform general grounds maintenance duties including but not limited to remove leaves, mow grass, aerate turf, weed beds, and sow grass seed. Perform hand grading, excavating, and shovel work. Remove snow from streets and sidewalks. (Will be on call for snow removal.)
  • Complete needed facility maintenance and repair. Including but not limited to cleaning gutters, changing filters and light bulbs, maintenance on groundskeeping equipment, greenhouse equipment upkeep, minor repairs, etc.
  • Complete custodial work in facilities as needed. Including but not limited to taking out trash and general cleaning.
  • Supervise student employees with groundskeeping/landscaping tasks.
  • As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri.

Salary

Salary Range: $12.05 - $19.66

GGS Grade: C

University Title: Custodian II

Shift

Monday-Friday 40 hours per week with evenings and weekend as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

A job offer for this position is contingent on passing a physical examination to determine if the candidate possesses the physical capabilities necessary to perform the essential functions.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required for certain positions.
  • One year of general maintenance and/or custodial experience preferred.
  • Some knowledge of methods for cleaning equipment and buildings; mechanical ability for minor repair of equipment.
  • Ability on a daily basis to:
    • Visualize work area and determine what tasks need to be performed.
    • Bend, squat, reach, stretch, walk, stand, sit, grasp and twist repeatedly.
    • Climb stairs, step stools, and ladders; climb and descend stairwells.
    • Lift, carry, and set down objects of moderate weight (25-50 lbs.)
  • Work may include one or more of the following:
    • Working in areas of extreme temperatures.
    • Wearing a backpack vacuum for long periods of time.
    • Wearing protective mask and hearing protection devices.
    • Working around dust and cleaning chemicals.
  • Good physical coordination and mechanical aptitude sufficient to perform assigned duties.
Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in Facilities Management, Groundskeeping, or related field or a combination of education and relevant experience and 2 yeas of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is preferred.
