Job Description:
The Program Manager will provide programmatic, administrative, financial and grant management assistance for the Center for Addiction and Disease Risk Exacerbation (CADRE), a NIH funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE). The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the large clinical research team. This position handles privileged information, ensuring confidentiality and providing financial and expense management, and comprehensive program coordination.
The Program Manager provides grant support to the members of the CADRE. This includes assisting with recruitment of CADRE research projects, coordinating CADRE colloquia, quarterly meetings of the Internal Advisory Committee, semi-annual meetings of the External Advisory Committee, the annual scientific retreat, and visiting scholar applications.
The Program Manager processes financial transactions including subawards, purchase orders and expense reports. This position monitors program budgets, assists in account reconciliation, assists in the development of the annual program budget and assists with sub-recipient monitoring for the CADRE.
The Program Manager collects, analyzes, and maintains data relating to CADRE program activities, including documenting progress of individuals involved in the program, and ensuring compliance with NIH criteria. This role coordinates manuscript submission and public access compliance, and aids in the completion of Institutional Review Board (IRB) reports.
The Program Manager is responsible for internal and external communications via the CADRE listserv, monthly web-based meetings, the CADRE website and social media, and preparation of annual NIH progress reports. This role will be responsible for preparing and submitting competing grant applications. This role creates, implements, and continuously improves the digital marketing strategies for the program, including the marketing of scientific presentations and funding opportunities.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 7/31/2024, which may be extended based upon available funding.
Job Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in public health, psychology or related field, plus 5-7 years of full-time research experience required, or Master's degree in public health, psychology or related field, plus 3-5 years of full-time research experience.
Experience
- Previous grant or project management experience required.
- Experience with NIH grants policies, procedures, and systems required.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) & Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Calendar, etc.), financial management systems and social media required.
- Previous financial experience and experience with financial management systems is highly preferred.
- Experience in an academic or hospital research setting highly preferred.
- Experience with NIH ASSIST and Workday highly preferred.
- Management experience of a NIH center grant preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop relationships with stakeholders and effectively devise and implement collaborative initiatives to achieve shared results.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, deliverables, and to adhere to institutional guidelines.
- Ability to understand strategic objectives, align and adjust initiatives as needed, and anticipate and meet the needs of research team.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy of work and a high degree of computer literacy and management information skills
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Fluency with current technology developments, digital tools, and social media. Ability to learn new systems.
- Possesses a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community.
