This individual will assist clients across a diverse mix of institutional research-related datasets, provide analytical and operational analysis, mentor clients on the appropriate use of institutional data and adhere to security standards.

Institutional Research and Application Development (IRAD) in Penn Arts and Sciences is a collaborative and flexible organization of developers, data analysts, and trusted advisors. Our work and working environment allow us to connect directly to the academic mission of the School and the diverse, vibrant campus community while retaining a flexible work/life balance. We work closely with various clients across the school to create web applications and integrate vendor products. Our group provides expertise on institutional data through analysis, reporting, data visualizations, and business intelligence technologies. We strive to create innovative ways to improve operations and enable more informed decision-making.
DUTIES:
Work independently and as part of a project team to analyze and organize institutional data to derive meaningful insights and develop and maintain applications and services using web, data visualization, and business intelligence technologies. Configure and integrate vendor solutions with business processes (Interfolio, BPLogix, or other low-code tools/cloud-based platforms). Provide analytical, programmatic, and operational analysis; develop procedures to solve complex problems across diverse institutional research datasets- including student, admissions, instruction, enrollment, employment, survey, and development and alumni relations. Consult with divisional clients, including senior leadership, to evaluate needs, gather functional requirements, and prepare proposals, specifications, and project plans.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's Degree and 3 to 5 years of experience in developing relational databases and web applications with demonstrated project management skills. Strong customer service and communication skills are a must. Familiarity with University Data Warehouse is a plus. Detailed knowledge of relational database design, PHP, SQL, and other web technologies. Knowledge of several of the following desirable: Oracle, MySQL, business intelligence/analytics software (QlikView, Tableau, Power BI), PL/SQL, APEX, Javascript, using PHP and JavaScript Frameworks, experience with statistical analyses, and packages such as R. Experience working in higher education is preferred. Must be flexible and adept at analyzing and decomposing complex problems to formulate solutions, with the aptitude to context switch between projects. Ability to be a great teammate to build consensus among peers and effective relationships with divisional clients.
The salary for this position is expected to be from $70,000 to $110,000.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
