Position Description

The Department of Physics at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Academic Year) with the appointment starting in Fall 2023.

At CSUDH, we celebrate and respect diversity in all forms that include every race, religion, gender, ethnicity, veterans, people with varied abilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. For more information: Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

Department of Physics

The College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences is one of six main instructional academic units of the university. The Physics Department, an academic unit within the College, offers its students the opportunity to participate in frontier research at major laboratories while simultaneously providing a solid background in both the theoretical and experimental aspects of our field.

The Department of Physics offers a bachelor of science degree with three major foci: General Physics, which provides access to advanced theoretical and technical careers; Physical Science, which is tailored to meet education standards and satisfy waiver requirements for a single-subject teaching credential; and Electrical Engineering, designed in cooperation with the CSU Long Beach Department of Electrical Engineering to prepare students for broader STEM career opportunities as well as provide training in order to provide seamless transition to graduate work in Electrical Engineering upon graduation from CSUDH.

The Department offers a Master of Science in Systems Engineering (MSSE) that trains students in the application of the concepts, knowledge, principles, methodologies, tools and techniques that facilitate the successful realization of complex systems.

All members of the full-time faculty hold doctorate degrees, are dedicated to excellence in teaching, and are active in research and other scholarly activities. Another attractive feature of the Department is its small class size, allowing students to interact frequently and effectively with instructors within and outside of class.
