Job Description Summary / TWC Summary

Program Manager for Research Grants & Student Programs plans, organizes, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of various funded research and student programs. Supervises and supports staff employees, student workers, programs, and processes. Performs and manages routine clerical and administrative duties related to the operations, functions, and activities of grants and program. Generally, provides direct support to grant director, PI and Senior Associate VP for Research & Innovation.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS :
The Program Manager is a highly collaborative, self-motivated, creative person that is adaptable to new processes with capacity to function independently. The Program Manager is knowledgeable (or able to become knowledgeable) of grant and program process and can implement grant/program activities.

This is a Grant Funded position.

Essential Duties Summary

Develop strategic plans, goals, and measurable objectives for research grants and student programs and services
Prepare materials, set-up, plans, implements, coordinates, and attends/participates in research grant/student program activities, seminars, webinars, events
Ensure day to day operations of student program and various research grants
Maintain accurate research grants and student program event calendar and communicate event details with the team
Coordinate/schedule, team meetings, research grant/program steering committee meetings, collaborator meetings, luncheons, seminars, conferences, and travel plans for research grants and student programs
Prepares meeting agendas, reserves rooms and facilities, and distributes minutes of meetings when required
Initiate and completes agreements for speakers, consultants, and other professional service providers
Compiles and prepare activity summary and data required for progress and financial report for various grants and student programs
Hire, train, manage, supervise, and evaluate student staff, interns within student programs
Maintains Grant/program website and social media platforms
Works closely with grant director, PI and other key personnel to prepare reports
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Orders and maintains supplies and outreach materials for grants and student programs
Tracks and reconciles expenditure
Oversees health promotions and fundraising activities for research programs

Hiring Range
$48,273.00 - $60,341.00

Education

Masters or PhD in public health, Health Science, health promotion, health policy, or health education. Degrees in other fields may be considered with evidence of sufficient university-level coursework and/or professional continuing education in the areas listed above.

PhD preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:
  • Policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of basic office and financial processes and procedures
Skill in:
  • Demonstrated skills in a variety of educational methods including presentations, workshops, trainings, individual behavior change sessions, and small group discussion/facilitation
  • Demonstrated skills in a variety of computer software applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and statistical software)
  • Supervisory skills to effectively manage student staff or volunteers
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with other team members and exercise sound judgment
  • Professional writing, publications, and/or presentations or willingness to learn skill
  • Detail oriented, Problem-solving, and decision-making
  • Multitasking and time management
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written, with strong public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated experience in effective conflict management and resolution

Ability to:
  • Independent use of technology and virtual meeting platforms
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new processes
  • Design flyers and content for marketing purposes
  • Develop verbiage and coordinate mass, social, and print media promotions marketing materials
Work Experience

One-year related supervisory work experience, preferably in a higher education environment is preferred but not required.

Working/Environmental Conditions
  • Routine office environment
  • Sitting or standing in one location much of the time
  • Use of video display terminal
  • Travel to professional conference to attend, present, network and learn about similar grant funded programs at least once a year. Conference registration, travel cost, lodging etc. is reimbursable under grant funding
