Communications Manager

About the Opportunity

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Implements the annual strategic marketing and communications planning as determined by college leadership that supports college's reputation and awareness, and enrollment generation in support of college goals.
  • Builds awareness and appreciation of CPS's strengths, offerings, impact and relevance among targeted audiences, especially prospective and current students, faculty, alumni, Northeastern University and higher education colleagues, employers, current and potential partners, potential faculty, and staff hires.
  • Monitors the public image of CPS and report to the DSC and leadership regularly on reputation status.
  • Supporting the DSC, executes media relations, reputation plans, and tactics in support of the overall CPS communications strategy.
  • Provides editorial counsel to academic and student leadership for college-wide academic and student communications on policy matters.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the communication strategy using relevant KPIs, such as website analytics, surveys, and email click-through rate
  • Manage the entire process of content publication—from writing and editing to proofreading and publishing
  • Work with internal stakeholders to devise the most effective cross-platform content strategies and distributes across all communications channels, including, but not limited to website, email, intranet, and coordinating with the Associate Director of Social Media for social platforms.
  • Coordinates timing and distribution of all college-wide communications to the appropriate audience.
  • Works with DSC and Events team to execute event communications needs, including event scripts, run of show, and speeches.
  • Manage external freelancers as needed.
  • Track web analytics to measure the success of our communications and content marketing campaigns, identify areas for improvement, and formulate better strategies to improve engagement and revenue
  • Works with high level of independence, challenges status quo, offers new ideas and techniques to improve communications outcomes.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with internal customers, senior management, and other critical partners
  • Other duties as assigned by college leadership.


35% Strategic Planning Implementation

Implements the annual strategic marketing and communications plan as determined by college leadership. At the direction of the DSC, executes media relations, reputation plans, and tactics in support of the overall CPS communications strategy. Work with internal stakeholders to devise the most effective cross-platform content strategies and distributes across all communications channels, in coordination with the Associate Director of Social Media for social platforms. Monitors the public image of CPS and report to the DSC and leadership regularly.

35% Content Management

Manage the entire process of content publication—from writing and editing to proofreading and publishing. 15% Communications Operations

Develops and maintains relationships with internal customers, senior management, and other critical partners.

10% Events Support

Works with DSC and Events team to execute event communications needs, including event scripts, run of show, and speeches.

5% Other Duties

Other duties as assigned by college leadership.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, or journalism required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or journalism.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and demonstrated competency in the use of social media required.
  • Proven unparalleled attention to detail with expert ability to write and produce with accuracy.
  • An eye for graphic design and strong ability to source and choose imagery to match news stories.
  • The successful candidate will be an accomplished communications professional with demonstrated success in executing comprehensive strategic communications plans for complex organizations.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders from around the company and at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work and produce deliverables independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly flexible, rapidly changing, collaborative work environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office tools/programs, especially Outlook and email service platforms like Constant Contact.
