Position Overview:
Patrols the various parking lots on campus to enforce parking regulations, usually by operation of UCO's license plate recognition (LPR) vehicles but may also need to patrol on foot at times depending on departmental needs. Responsible for overseeing the evening shift and supervision of all student ambassadors scheduled. Under the Field Supervisor's direction, completes various administrative tasks to ensure the field operates effectively. This position will additionally assist with new student employee onboarding/training, physical and manual labor such as moving equipment, event setup, watch, and tear down, working outside on grounds, and helping with preventative maintenance.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
- Drive campus parking lots and scan license plates using LPR technology to identify parking infractions and safety violations.
- Push out violation hits (pings) to the student ambassadors on foot to validate and enforce as needed.
- Continuously communicate with foot officers throughout the shift, ensuring the taken route is straightforward and easy to follow.
- May alert following officers to observed safety violations or other infractions that the LPR technology cannot scan for as needed.
- Be willing and ready to pause the drive to help following officers catch up on hit validation and citation issuance as needed.
- At times may be expected to patrol on foot and validate pings depending on the department's needs and staffing.
- Monitor and report parking lot occupancy.
- Serves as a backup to Field Supervisor, supporting Field Supervisor in enforcement, team building, and supervision duties.
- Responsible for running the evening shift, including student supervision, assignment checks, administrative tasks/reports, and closing duties.
- Supervises student parking ambassadors encouraging professional development, professionalism, and accountability during their time as TPS employees.
- Communicates issues to the Field Supervisor, including any problems with student personnel, parking lots, money funds, or customer interactions.
- Assists in event parking setup during the shift as directed by Field Supervisor or Assistant Director.
- Reports suspicious persons or activity to Field Supervisor, Transportation and Parking Services, and Police Services.
- When requested, responds to vehicle immobilizations/impounds, and verifies impound information with the TPS office.
- Reports to Field Supervisor any equipment issues or repair needs.
- When requested, assists the Field Supervisor in interviewing and selecting new Student Parking Ambassador positions.
- Assists in training and the onboarding process for all new Student Parking Ambassador positions.
- When requested, assists the Field Supervisor in developing and reviewing operational policies and procedures; implements, maintains, and ensures compliance with operational policies and procedures.
- When requested, assists the TPS management with parking lot repair and general maintenance activities.
- In collaboration with other professional field staff members, ensures timely collection of pay lot monies and deliveries to the Bursar Office.
- Works special events such as sporting events, graduation ceremonies, and some holiday events as needed.
- Serves as office backup when needed. Performs other related duties as assigned and reports to Field Supervisor.
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle. Must have evening availability. Work hours for the Evening Lead Ambassador are 3 pm – 9 pm Monday through Thursday. Typically requires general education or vocational training and relevant experience in chosen field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications Preferred:
- Customer service and cash handling experience preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Skill in dealing with the public courteously, tactfully, and fairly.
- Demonstrates an understanding of various team building and leadership principles.
- Knowledge of computers and technology.
- Ability to work various hours.
- Must be responsible, punctual, flexible, and detail orientated.
- Must have a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Excellent public relations, communications, and organizational skills. Experience working in a customer service environment. Computer/Tablet knowledge is essential. Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions. Excellent customer service skills.
