Job Description

Campus Safety and Emergency Management Services is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Video, Access, and Technology Team. The position is primarily responsible for administering and managing projects related to the campus-wide security electronic access control, video security systems, and related Department of Public Safety technical systems.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in technical field, information studies, business management, or related disciplines, and three plus years of relevant work related experience required.
  • Project Management Institute ( PMI ) certification preferred.
  • Crime Prevention through Environmental Design ( CPTED ) certification preferred.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Proven background in managing multiple complex technical projects with varying deadlines.
  • Physical security assessments, business process analysis and design experience .
  • Experience / knowledge of Emergency Communications Center operations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project/Visio.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with alarm systems (monitoring, programming, practical use).
  • Ability to read/interpret and/or prepare As Built and construction drawings.
  • Experience with video camera systems (Genetec), access control hardware (wired and wireless), and building alarm platforms.
  • Ability to carry and move parts and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Physical security assessments, business process analysis and design experience.
  • Approachable, builds constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact to achieve consensus, and moves projects to completion.
  • Deals with complex information and concepts comfortably and is able to express that knowledge (verbally or in writing) in an understandable way, to a variety of audiences.
Responsibilities
  • Delivers completed security technology projects to Syracuse University customers.
  • Use effective project management skills to prioritize and maintain multiple complex technical deployments.
  • Serve as the primary contact for new and campus renovation projects that require access control hardware or camera installations.
  • Define, develop and manage project scope from CAD drawing layouts and schedules.
  • Coordinates project schedules with appropriate departments and/or trades.
  • Maintains construction schedule and coordinates with other trades/departments.
  • Manage project schedules to ensure deadlines and timeline is completed as scheduled.
  • Track costs and budgets for security projects.
  • Manages installation labor and contracted integrators.
  • Perform site walk-throughs and reviews.
  • Assist in preparing estimate and quotes to clients for projects and scope changes.
  • Attend project status meetings with campus design and construction, and facilities.
  • Work collaboratively Public Safety, administrators, departments, schools and colleges in assessing building security needs.
  • Develop concise goals and objectives with project sponsors.
  • Organize, plan, and direct projects to include leading stakeholders; and coordinating multiple activities, and materials to meet goals and objectives.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor, teams, and committees about schedules, tasks, progress, status, workload, project barriers and potential solutions.
  • Systematically tracks hardware maintenance and life cycle planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
