Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
Assistant Professor, Audiology
Tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Speech-language Pathology and Audiology. Research Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) degree in audiology or related area. ABD applications will be considered with initial appointment at the Instructor rank; all degree requirements must be completed by February 2024. The Department encourages applicants to apply who have ASHA CCC-A certification and current (or eligible for) Maryland licensure. Candidates should have research, clinical, and/or teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: advanced diagnostics, vestibular diagnosis, auditory processing disorders, hearing aids, aural rehabilitation, and/or electrophysiology. Teach audiology-related courses in the Audiology Clinical Doctoral (AuD) and Bachelor’s degree programs in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Towson University. Undergraduate and graduate class instruction, research, and university, community, and professional service. Supervision of clinical services may also be included. Assistant Professor, Public Relations
Tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor in Public Relations in the Department of Mass Communication, beginning August 2023. Ph.D. in strategic communication, mass communication, public relations, or related fields. ABD applicants will be considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank, and all doctorate degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2024. Demonstrated success or potential to teach public relations courses at undergraduate and graduate levels. Demonstrated potential to develop a strong body of scholarship. Applicants with specialties in corporate communications, media relations, and communication campaigns are welcomed to apply. Applicants whose teaching draws from their professional experience and whose work shows a commitment to issues of diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply. Researchactive faculty teach 6 classes over a 9-month academic year with undergraduate class size averaging 20 students per class and graduate students averaging around 15 students per class. Undergraduate teaching may include: Corporate Communication Management, Media Relations, Strategic Public Relations Campaigns, Public Relations Writing, Social Media Strategy and other public relations courses. Graduate teaching may include Qualitative Research Methods in Communication, Practice of Public Relations and Organizational Communication, Crisis Communication, or others in the candidate’s areas of scholarship and expertise. Expected to advise undergraduate students and supervise graduate student theses and/or professional projects. Scholarly research productivity and service to the department, college, and university are expected. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with a diverse student population and be sensitive to the educational needs of these students.
