Teaching faculty are responsible for a 178-day contractual load per semester/academic year. 

In addition to teaching load, duties include office hours, reviewing courses and curriculum, assessment of student

learning and participating in various college activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary responsibility in the evening weekend program for lecture and skills lab instruction at Lakeland’s main campus and potential clinical instruction off-site at major metropolitan health care centers. Acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials. Set attainable instructional goals and objectives compatible with the approved rationale for each course taught. Participate in learning college activities. Participate in assessment of student learning activities. Select texts, supplemental documents, or other learning resources. Plan educational and other support activities, which directly relate to course goals and objectives when appropriate. Evaluate students to determine progress and assign final grades. Provide subject area academic assistance to students in need. Maintain accurate records of student grades. Maintain a minimum of 10 weekly posted office hours conducted over a minimum of three days. A minimum of 8 office hours shall be conducted on campus over a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 2 office hours may be done remotely on another day. Provide Nursing Learning Lab instruction as required. Co-coordinate Nursing Learning Lab Select, evaluate, and supervise Nursing Learning Lab personnel. Maintain updated course outlines; develop course syllabi to be distributed to students. Attend general college, faculty division, department, and advisory committee meetings. Evaluate and recommend catalog and support material revisions. Develop new courses when necessary.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH:

  • Remain current of assigned instruction and related occupational areas. Acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials. Participate in an annual faculty evaluation process in compliance with the procedures applicable to the faculty member’s discipline. Attend scheduled divisional and professional development RN-service activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

            Required/Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) required with a preferred emphasis on Medical-Surgical Nursing (preferred) Current and relevant clinical experience (required). Eligibility or licensure to practice as a registered nurse in Ohio required (unencumbered). Curriculum development, accreditation standards and teaching (preferred).
