Director for Student Involvement and Leadership
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement the Director for Student Involvement and Leadership provides leadership for the newly established Office of Student Involvement and Leadership. The Director for Student Involvement and Leadership leads the strategic development and delivery of campus-wide co-curricular programs and fosters a robust, vibrant, learning-centered and inclusive collegiate community for students. The Director’s portfolio includes Sorority & Fraternity Life, Student Organization & Leadership, Civic Engagement, Campus Traditions & Spirit programs. This position develops, implements and regularly updates policies associated with co-curricular student life and student organizations. The Director provides an elevated level of supervision to a team of professional staff, serves as fiscal agent for the administration of the department budget and advises the SGA.
Duties include, but are not limited to: leads the strategic vision of the department in the planning and delivery of a vibrant array of student life experiences beyond the classroom designed to build campus community, cultivate belonging, involvement and engagement, and foster student development; provides leadership for the further development of the Civic Engagement efforts with the Coordinator for Civic Engagement; directs the recruitment, selection, hiring, training, scheduling, professional development, supervision and evaluation of professional staff; provides direct supervision and leadership for the SIL team that includes: Assistant Director, Student Organizations, Assistant Director, Campus Programs & Traditions, Director, Sorority & Fraternity Life, and the Coordinator for Civic & Community Engagement; serves as fiscal agent for the department, prepares and manages the department’s budget; leads the day-to-day advisement of Student Government Association, guides SGA in strengthening programming efforts by student organizations; and oversees the development and execution of workshops for student organizations on all aspects of program planning and implementation.
Requirements: A master's degree from an accredited college or university in Educational Leadership, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration or related field is required. Four (4) years' of progressively responsible professional experience in student activities, which may include student leadership development, civic engagement, campus programming, student government, faculty and staff on a comprehensive university campus is also required. Seven (7) years' of progressively responsible professional experience in student activities, demonstrated progressively responsible supervisory experience managing professional staff and demonstrated administrative experience with budget development and financial management are preferred. Strong working knowledge of student development theory and best practices in college student development and experience designing and implementing applied experiences that put theory into practice, experience in advising student organizations and demonstrated sound judgment, management and problem-solving skills, flexibility and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently are preferred

Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
