Job Details
Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for an Executive Secretary to the Board of Trustees (Administrative Coordinator II) position in the Office of the President. This position coordinates and facilitates the activities of the Board of Trustees and its Standing Committees to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the University’s system of governance. It also serves as a general information and communication center to members of the Board of Trustees and the University’s Senior Leaders. The position will work closely with the Board of Trustees, the President, Board committee chairs and other senior leaders to provide advice and guidance on strategy, policy, and process.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: provide direction and oversight on the governance and fiduciary work of the Board of Trustees and its committees; manage activities for the Board of Trustees and various committees; ensure proper custodianship and maintenance of Board documents; monitor budget for the Board of Trustees; recommend and advise on Board policies and procedures; advise Board and committees on related historical and interpretive information; regularly review policies and procedures to ensure compliance; establish and maintain the Board of Trustees’ orientation and ongoing education program; ensure communication with University Lobbyist; attend meetings and ensure maintenance of complete and accurate records; research information and conduct follow-up as necessary; manage activities of the Board of Trustees and committees; advise the Chair of the Board of Trustees and committees on setting annual and long-range goals; effectively work and communicate with University Marketing and Communication, Special Events, Board members, and external parties; accountable for communicating with the appropriate leadership to ensure that leaders are aware of relevant information, events, and expectations; provide exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large; and manage projects and tasks for successful and timely completion.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and five (5) plus years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required. Master’s degree or Juris Doctorate (JD) and experience in an academic environment are preferred. Experience in managing and integrating multifaceted work plans and schedules, pursuing initiatives to modernize and enhance Board practices.
Successful candidates should also possess: excellent verbal, written, and communication skills, superior organizational skill and close attention to detail; the ability to handle confidential information with utmost care; and proficiency in office technology operation and software applications (word, excel, access, power point).

Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Position may require evening and weekend work. Overnight travel may be required occasionally.
