Assistant Vice President of Research Technology

Baylor University invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Vice President for Research Technology.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President CIO/CISO, the AVPRT leads a team charged with supporting the enabling research technology for faculty researchers. This centralized effort includes managing secure data services, the research technology software catalog, high performance computing and other specialized research technology requests. The AVPRT will educate the campus on research technology capabilities, processes and strategic initiatives, providing pathways for faculty researchers to meet their technology needs and educating faculty on standard software and services that can provide rapid solutions for their research needs. The AVPRT will also advise leadership of resource capacity and potential needs for research computing. This will be done while building and maintaining strong working relationships with university stakeholders broadly, alongside a sharp focus on faculty researchers.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • A Master’s degree (computer science preferred) and five years of experience
  • The capacity to enable research technology at an R1 university 
  • Knowledge of implementing data security plans and meeting grant requirements 
  • Knowledge of current and emerging research technologies 
  • A passion for exceeding customer expectations and an ability to anticipate technology needs 
  • An active Christian or Jewish faith
  • Additional desired competencies in:
    • Collaborative leadership
    • Project management (faculty project experience preferred)
    • Problem solving and analytical acumen
    • Priority setting and time management
    • Customer service
