Overview

The Summer Day Camp General Counselor role is important to the structure and environment of the Summer Day Camp program. General Counselors are responsible for the safety and well-being of every child in their group. Each counselor will be placed with an age group. The level of enthusiasm and energy that the general counselor brings to camp each day will determine the amount of fun and excitement the campers will have at Princeton University.

Responsibilities

Supervise a small group of campers with energy and structure.
• Create an inviting atmosphere where all children will feel welcomed and enthusiastic about participating in activities.
• Implement the schedule of activities planned by the Head Counselors and alter games and activities necessary when campers need change.
• Communicate with parents about camper’s schedule and progress.

Qualifications

Must be over the age of 16 and enjoy working with children.
• Must be able to pass a routine background check.
• Must be certified in Adult/Child CPR/AED and First Aid (provided by Campus Recreation prior to the start of camp).
• Must attend a Pre-Camp Orientation training, and follow all policies and procedures discussed at training.
