Job Description

A postdoctoral Research Associate position is immediately available in Moz Lab (Chemistry Department and Bioinspired Institute at Syracuse University) to study the interactions between phase separating lipidated proteins ( PLP ) and lipid assemblies. Our research’s central theme is to use post-translational lipidation to alter the interfacial and rheological properties of all-aqueous emulsions derived from the liquid-liquid phase separation of proteins. This NSF -funded project aims to reveal how the physicochemical properties of PLPs alter their interactions with lipid bilayers in physical and biological model systems.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a closely related field is required.

Prior publication record in the characterization of structure and dynamics of condensates using microscopy, rheology, and other related techniques.

Job Specific Qualifications

Familiarity with production, isolation, and characterization of proteins

Responsibilities

Pioneer research areas by intellectually engaging the group, running experiments, writing proposals, publishing research results in peer-reviewed journals. Train undergraduate and graduate students and coordinate purchasing.
