The Department of Family and Community Health at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing invites MSN, DNP or PhD prepared Nursing professionals in current practice to apply for PT/FT lecturer positions in the Nurse Midwifery program.

Description
  • Didactic and clinical education in the Nurse-Midwifery program (https://www.nursing.upenn.edu/nurse-midwifery/) with an emphasis on the midwifery model of care, including principles related to social justice, health equity and trauma-informed care.
  • Faculty will support the following courses:
    • Intrapartum/ Postpartum/Newborn Care (NURS 7870)
      • Offered during the Summer Term
    • Integration of theory and clinical practice in women's health (NURS 7850)
      • Offered during the Summer & Fall Terms
    • Health Care of Childbearing Women (NURS 7840)
      • Offered during the Spring Term

There is curricular overlap and teaching responsibilities with:
  • The Women's Health/Gender-Related Nurse Practitioner program with opportunities for:
    • Clinical course faculty
    • Clinical course support

Aligned with the teaching mission of Penn Nursing, the Nurse-Midwifery and Women's Health/Gender-Related Nurse Practitioner programs, the incumbent will:
  • Educate Nurse-Midwifery students through both traditional and non-traditional modalities on campus at the University of Pennsylvania, these include in-person classes, clinical simulation education
  • Work collaboratively with faculty in both the Nurse-Midwifery and Women's Health/Gender- Related Nurse Practitioner program
  • Support identification and ongoing development of additional clinical sites for Nurse-Midwifery students primarily in the Philadelphia area
  • Serve as an academic advisor to graduate students
  • Participate in program, Department, and Penn Nursing service
  • Represent the Nurse-Midwifery program at the local, state, and national levels in conjunction with, and approval of program leadership
  • Collaborate with faculty for scholarship related to Nurse-Midwifery role, education and/or other related topics
  • Foster a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice, integral to the responsibility of education for Penn Nursing, Nurse-Midwifery and Women's Health/Gender-Related Nurse Practitioner students

The programs seek qualified candidates who are committed to further education and knowledge of students toward a better understanding of racial and social equity, support and embrace diversity and inclusion through education, mentorship, service, and scholarship. Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or higher with experience in and knowledge of Nurse-Midwifery role and scope of practice
  • Current Pennsylvania RN licensure (or eligibility)
  • Current Certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the American Midwifery Certification Board (or eligibility)
  • Current Pennsylvania CNM licensure (or eligibility)
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in full-scope Nurse-Midwifery practice
  • Experience with teaching in the classroom and/or clinical setting preferred
