Take your career to new heights. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Building Automation Systems Specialist for the Daytona Beach campus. The Building Automation Systems Specialist performs manages, operates and monitors web-based energy management system to include continuous systems evaluation, energy totalization (the study of power consumption and impact on energy usage) and systems energy tuning to ensure energy (including electrical and natural gas) consumption is reduced. Responsibilities include:
  • Development of energy tracking charts to identify energy usage and saving
  • Assist with the design and implementation of new control strategies as the system is tuned and expanded.
  • Train the remaining HVAC Technicians to monitor and reprogram the Energy Management System.
  • Will also assist other campuses as requested.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Must have technical school graduation in HVAC controls and design with a minimum of 5-10 years of hands-on experience.
  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing, with the ability to comprehend basic instructions and respond effectively.
  • Must be able to operate a standard shift vehicle and possess a valid Florida’s driver’s license. * See approved driver’s details below on insurance requirements
  • Must be able to read blueprints for buildings (architectural), mechanical (HVAC), Plumbing (pumps and drainage systems) and control logic diagrams for equipment sequences of operation.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal codes applicable to this trade.
  • Ability to service gas equipment (propane and natural).
  • Ability to provide and present ideas for operational improvements for Energy Management System.
  • Understand building EMS hardware and software systems and configurations.
  • Understand HVAC Thermal Energy Storage Concepts and Evaluating System Burn Rates
  • Knowledge of Johnson Controls products including CGV, CGM, SNE, VMA, FEC and NAE controllers.
  • Proficient with JCI Metasys, CCT, Trane TU and other Bacnet programs.
  • Must be familiar with Safety “Best Practices” associated with the nature of this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CFC Certification
  • Possess and maintain a universal refrigerant recovery license (EPA Issued)
Requirements to be able to drive a university vehicle:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. In some instances, a valid Class C (CDL) license may be required.
  • Must meet the University’s standards for approved drivers. Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence):
    • More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years
    • More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year
    • A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and/or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.
