Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Outreach, and working with a team of interns and freelance writers, this role is responsible for development and management of all Penn Memory Center editorial content (both written and multimedia) and its distribution across platforms including but not limited to the weekly Insight Newsletter, the weekly UPenn ADRC internal newsletter, the Penn Memory Center website and affiliated websites, Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn/other social media. The specialist will also take on a primary role in development of an upcoming podcast. Working with staff members from all across the Penn Memory Center, this employee will assist on promotion of training opportunities, public programming and community outreach work.

Job Description

The Communications Specialist is responsible for the development of strategy and the tactical creation and implementation of content for Penn Memory Center websites, e-mail campaigns, new/social media, podcast production, graphic design and printing management, as well as other emerging platforms, integrated with the wider objectives of the Penn Memory Center communications plan. This role also oversees the day-to-day work of the communications internship program and freelance assigments.

A qualified candidate will have the necessary skillset to execute the above responsibilites as well as the creative vision and drive to brainstorm and execute creative new projects working toward the goals of the Penn Memory Center communications plan.

Job Responsibilities
  • Management of written and multimedia content for distribution across all platforms.
  • Managing communications interns and any freelance employees.
  • Email Campaigns, primarily the weekly internal ADRC newsletter and the weekly public InSight newsletter.
  • Social Media management, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube.
  • Website management for the Penn Memory Center website and any affiliated websites.
  • Assist with podcast production work.
  • Develop and manage any print material as needed, including an annual report
  • Assist with onboarding of new employees and offboarding departing employees.
  • Develop accessibility plan and ensure PMC content adheres to standard.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.


The ideal applicant will have excellent writing skills and be an independent worker. Familiarity with SquareSpace and WordPress required. Familiarity with the Adobe Suite, MailChimp, Canva, Descript is a plus.

This position is contingent upon grant funding.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
