Description:
If you have experience working in the Registrar's office or experience working with awarding of transfer credits and transfer credit evaluations and is interested in serving as Pratt's Assistant Registrar of Transfer and Articulation, we want to hear from you! The Office of the Registrars is seeking a candidate who will provide leadership and supervision for all issues revolving around transfer students, transfer of credits, and transfer services. This position performs a wide variety of tasks and projects focused on effecting change and improving transfer services for students, faculty and staff. The candidate for this position will support the general operation of the Registrar's Office as necessary and provide leadership and support to the campus community regarding transfer legislation and articulation agreements. In order to be successful in this position, the Assistant Registrar of Transfer and Articulation will maintain professional integrity and the ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality in the performance of their duties.

Pratt Institute enrolls 5,262 graduate and undergraduate students working across nearly 50 programs. Of the Institute's 3,700 undergraduates, most are full-time and over 1,800 live on campus. International students make up 32% of the undergraduate student body, hailing from over 65 countries around the world, and 15% are from underrepresented minority groups. An additional 232 students are enrolled in the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute (PrattMWP), in Utica, New York; they complete the first two years of their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fine Arts, Communications Design, Photography, or Art and Design Education in Utica and then move to the Brooklyn campus to complete their degrees.

On a typical day you will:
  • Assess credits for new, returning and continuing students. Review courses and credit hours completed; verify level, content, unit value, and grading system of courses from catalogs of other institutions. Review credits from high school, universities, CLEP, AP, IB, etc. Determine the transferability of courses that have not been articulated by consulting the appropriate academic departments.
  • Communicate transfer equivalency reviews with the applicants, students, academic advisors, academic departments and Admissions.
  • Enter transfer credits awarded and pending credits in the student information system. Resolve and update pending courses in the student information system as final transcripts are received.
  • Assist with Degree Audit updates and Graduation Processing.
  • Perform all other related duties and seasonal projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience: Previous experience in a higher education setting with experience in a Registrar’s office or experience working with awarding of transfer credits and transfer credit evaluations.

Knowledge and Skills: Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and set priorities to achieve goals/objectives. Quality customer service skills. Technical skills and knowledge of computer desktop applications as well as COLLEAGUE (or any comparable Student Information System). Experience with database systems and records management applications including building queries. Must have strong time, organizational, and project management skills.

Other: Excellent verbal and written communications skills, demonstrated commitment to “student centered” services with the ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and administration. Ability to work well with a diverse population and the ability to work as a part of a team.
