Position Summary:

Under direction of the Catering Services Operations Assistant and Catering Assistant General Manager, the Event Supervisor oversees Catering staff at various locations. The Event Supervisor is responsible for execution of events according to guest specifications as listed on service orders. The Event Supervisor also oversees set up, delivery, service, and inventory and ensures all safety and sanitation procedures are being properly followed. Responsibilities also include supervising retail operations for bar and other food service venues under the Catering department.

Minimum Qualifications:

*Must have high school diploma or GED.
*Must have minimum of three (3) years of experience in a food prep and/or food service position.
*Must have working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment.
*Must have experience supervising and training personnel in proper food service techniques.
*Must possess the ability to work independently and supervise others without direct supervision.
*Must have the proven ability to be a self starter. Must have the proven ability to demonstrate creativity.
*Must have proven ability to work with people at all levels in a professional, friendly, and helpful manner.
*Must have the ability to manage numerous details in a multiple priority and fast paced environment.
*Must be able to write and communicate effectively in English.
*Must be well organized and attentive to detail. Must be able to exert fast paced mobility.
*Must be able to bend, stoop and stand for four (4) hours at a time.
*Must be able to visually differentiate colors for the purpose of food safety.
*Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and do occasional heavy physical labor.
*Must have a valid driver's license with less than six (6) points and certifiable per University requirements.
*Must be able to drive catering transport vehicles.
*Must be able to work nights and weekends and adapt to a flexible schedule.
*Must possess certification in Managerial ServSafe (or within 1 year of hire).

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

*Associate Degree in Culinary Arts, Business or Hospitality Management.
*Previous successful catering supervisory experience.
*Demonstrated experience working in a multi event/facility or environment.
*Current Managerial ServSafe certification.
*Demonstrated professional demeanor.

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.
