About the Opportunity
The Department of Health Sciences in the Bouve College of Health Sciences at the Boston campus of Northeastern University seeks applicants to teach courses for its undergraduate and graduate public health programs for Spring 2023, such as:
Undergraduate Courses
PHTH 2300 Communication Skills for the Health Professions
Students develop skills and knowledge about effective patient and clinical professions' communication as well as practice professional presentations and public speaking
PHTH 2350 Community and Public Health
Introduction to the basic components and history of the U.S. public health system, including community-based methods for addressing contemporary public health issues
PHTH 2515 Healthcare Policy and Administration
Students develop skills and knowledge about challenges and approaches in management and policy in healthcare, including the skills of analyzing, preparing and writing policy briefs
PHTH 4120 Global Perspectives on Discrimination and Health
Application of knowledge of social constructs and theoretical models to explain and address public health disparities
Graduate Course
PHTH 5214 Environmental Health
Introduces the field of environmental health, which encompasses concerns related to physical, built, and social environments. Core class for all graduate students
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include: Preparing syllabi, lectures, course materials, examinations, and evaluations of student performance; Working under the direction of the Lead Faculty for certain courses; Holding office hours as appropriate. A teaching assistant may be assigned;
The first day of Spring classes is January 9th and the last day of classes is April 19th (Final Exams held April 21-28). Undergraduate courses are scheduled during the day, two days per week, between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm. Graduate courses are either fully online, asynchronous or scheduled in the evening, one day per week between 5:30 - 7:30pm.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have at least a Masters in an appropriate field. Doctoral degrees are preferred, and teaching experience is desirable.
