About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Retail will have leadership and day-to-day management of all retail dining units and restaurant vendors at the Northeastern campus in Boston. Oversight includes the planning and budget administration, set operational policies, steward resources in delivering high quality, customer/student centric outcomes. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Campus Dining, this role will lead the retail dining portfolio in innovation and outstanding service. Key tenets of this leader's focus include the selection and vetting of restaurant vendors, building dining programs that create an inclusive campus environment for students, staff, administrators, faculty and guests while promoting excellence with each experience. The selected leader will have a growth mindset who is passionate about hospitality and driven by the mission and values of Northeastern.
The Director of Retail delivers high integrity in stewarding an annual operating budget in excess of $10 M and through the selected vendors, creates a staff experience that reflects the Finance Division's values and principles. This leader is ultimately accountable for the delivery of a broad scope of business operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS required with 4-5 years experience managing multiple
retail restaurants/units, forecasting business models, monitoring
third-party performance, and communicating with stakeholders at
various levels of an organization; or a combination of education
and experience that is commensurate.
- Financial acumen with an ability to manage key performance
indicators. Holds vendors accountable for delivering program
outcomes
- Key relationship builder with strong communication skills and
experience building collaboration with students, staff, faculty and
administrators
- Demonstrated experience in managing facility
renovations/refreshes
- Data driven with a keen eye on emerging dining
trends
- Adept at leading work teams with emphasis on diversity, equity,
and inclusion
- Excellent negotiation skills related to developing shared
vision, student engagement, and contract management
