Job Description Summary

Responsible for performing testing activities at the University Town Center and Laurel College Center administering tests to students utilizing the college’s testing facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be able to work Mon.-Thurs. 11:00am to 3:30 pm at University Town Center (in Hyattsville)
Thursdays from 3:30-8:00pm at the Laurel College Center.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or State/Local education or certification that is equivalent.
  • Two years full-time or part-time equivalent related experience in a customer relations capacity.
  • Windows proficiency and data entry experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Customer service skills; ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files
  • Data entry and/or keyboarding skills
  • Knowledge of Windows software
  • Maturity in judgment.
  • Demonstrated customer relations skills in face-to-face, high volume/pressure conditions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provides testing support to students and faculty utilizing the college’s testing facilities.
  • Obtains and maintains proctor certifications as directed
  • Adheres to proctor rules and requirements as detailed by certifying agencies and companies.
  • Administers placement and other exams, as directed.
  • Communicates with faculty and students regarding policies and procedures.
  • Communicates testing instructions in a friendly, courteous, and clear manner.
  • Requests and inspects valid identification of students wishing to use the testing center.
  • Utilizes internet and local network software to prepare and print test scores.
  • Utilizes Internet and local network to administer instructional on-line tests.
  • Assists in maintaining appropriate assessment atmosphere.
  • Evaluates student needs and requirements by reviewing test history.
  • Assists students with keyboarding techniques required for testing via computer.
  • Maintains student records.
  • Maintains filing of student exams.
  • Assists with preparation of testing materials.
  • Maintains test security.
  • Accepts telephone inquiries and contact with general public.
  • Maintains cordial and cooperative working relationship with college community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. This position requires significant (up to 90%+ total) stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, and walking.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
