William James College seeks an experienced and skilled leader with strong communication skills who is driven by the opportunity to develop organizational best practices that are rooted within our mission. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Operations, the Director of Talent, Culture and Equity is a critical thought partner who will implement and manage Talent, Culture and Equity efforts that effectively communicate and support the College’s mission and strategic goals.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a cohesive strategy for realizing diversity training and education objectives based on analysis needs; ensure it complies with college priorities and compares favorably to efforts at peer institutions. Serve as Title IX coordinator for the College; respond to bias incident reporting Create and implement strategies and be accountable for recruiting candidates that reflect the College’s recruiting strategy ; develop strategies and best practices for improved recruitment and hiring practices for all employees Manage onboarding and off boarding of all new employees Responsible for performance reviews and serves as a resource to supervisors during the process  Manage all aspect of Employee relations including supervisory consultations related to performance and professionalism, conduct, disciplinary issues and separations from the College of any kind; assist employees with workplace concerns, and manage and implement employee engagement surveys Provide resources and direction for college-wide employee development process, hiring, coaching, counseling and career development conversations. Anticipate legal issues associated with recruitment, performance and conduct matters Provide leadership in ensuring best practices on a wide range of employee relations; provides advice and guidance on complex and challenging matters. Facilitates organizational development, training and learning; devise and maintain methods for evaluating training to facilitate ongoing refinement of objectives and methods. Update/create personnel policies and procedures and keep the employee handbook up-to-date and compliant

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through education  and 7-10 years’ professional experience Experienced mediator with well-developed conflict resolution skills Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills Ability to balance sensitivity with efficiency, and attention to detail to the bigger picture Experience guiding supervisors and management in employee relations issues Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) Strong leadership, analytical and presentation skills Sense of humor, a positive and collaborative attitude, and a team player mentality, willing to take on any task big or small Experience with HRIS Systems, ADP experience is a plus

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10  years of experience or master’s degree with  7 years of progressive human resource, preferably in higher education. Demonstrates knowledge of and shows respect for cultural differences; educates others on the value of diversity; promotes a harassment free environment; builds and cultivates a diverse workforce Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships at all levels of the College
