    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Diversity Equity and Inclusion Coordinator is part of the Kentucky State University’s Land Grant Program. This position will work directly with the USDA Civil Rights Officer. The key role of this position is to assist the USDA Civil Rights Officer organize programs related to civil rights compliance, diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as assist with USDA Civil Rights compliance reports and prepare for the USDA Civil Rights compliance visit. The Diversity Equity and Inclusion Compliance Coordinator performs a variety of program support duties, performs data entry and maintains files, assists with coordinating ongoing professional development, responsible for the development and implementation of department programs and activities, and supports inclusive excellence for the Land Grant Program.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Coordinate efforts with the Civil Rights Office to provide ongoing equity and inclusion training for faculty and staff.

    • Assist with USDA Civil Rights compliance reports.

    • Prepare for the USDA Civil Rights compliance visit.

    • Create and distribute correspondence, reports, and other documents.

    • Develop record keeping system.

    • Assist with the development and coordination of DEI committee.

    • Collect and compile data to help identify areas of focus and to assist with parity.

    • Coordinate the communication and flow of information between the various stakeholder groups, organizations, virtual and face-to-face methods.

    • Develop registration processes for ongoing compliance and equity and inclusion trainings.

    • Assist in the facilitation of programming, event management, coordination, consultations, workshops; overseeing meetings, promotional trainings as requested and developing program materials.

    • Assist in the design and implementation of various assessment programs to measure success and related endeavors.

    • Provide recruitment and hiring efforts to provide a diverse workforce for the college.

    • Plan, develop and market diversity and inclusion focused education, programs, and events for the college.

    • Develop evaluation process for Civil Rights Compliance and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion trainings, workshops, programs etc.

    • Assist Civil Rights Officer with internal audit reviews for Research and Extension programs.

    • Work with marketing staff to publicize diversity-related events, educational opportunities, trainings, and workshops for the college.

    • Assist Civil Rights Officer with LEP (Limited English Proficiency) efforts.

    • Assist Civil Rights Officer with coordination of county and state audits for the college.

    • Collect demographic data and research from various county offices.

    • Assist marketing staff in maintaining and updating website.

    • Assist media and communications team with display of multicultural efforts.

    • Pursue professional development opportunities; attend conferences and professional meetings to remain current with diversity and inclusion issues/efforts.

    • Understanding of University policies, procedures, and objectives in planning and conducting Extension programs.

    • Perform other duties as assigned including special assignments related to the areas of responsibility, as well as the needs of the college.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Earned Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Education, or related field

    • Knowledge or willingness to learn about Land-Grant universities and Cooperative Extension

    • Knowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion best practices

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

    • Organizing and coordinating skills.

    • Detail oriented and resourceful.

    • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.

    • Word processing and/or data entry skills.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

    • Research skills.

    • Records maintenance skills.

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

    • Utilize new technologies to reach new audiences with the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community

    • Ability to work under deadlines

    • Demonstrated skills in the use of computers, including the internet, word processing, graphic design, spreadsheets, and database management programs.

    • Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

    • Demonstrated competency working with diverse audiences.

    • Demonstrated competency in matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

    • No or very limited physical effort required.

    • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

    • Be able to lift 40 lbs.

    • Be able to work some nights and weekends.

    • Work could involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises

    • Requires some standing or walking.

    • Work will involve state travel during audit times.
