Context of the Job:

Under general supervision, Prepares and processes First Class, Priority, Standard (Bulk), parcels, and accountable US mail. Operates and maintains computerized postage metering and weighing equipment. performs technical work in the operation of machinery to support the Mail and Bindery operation, such as the Video Jet and Bryce-Ink Jet addressing machine, coil punch, Perfect Binder machinery, Saddle Stitch, and folding devices. Assist in collation and lamination of materials. Label and sort campus mailings. May perform minor cleaning of equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Operate Video Jet and Bryce-Ink Jet addressing machine for on and off campus mailings.
  • Prepares US mail for Standard (Bulk) mail processing; may assist with print-to-mail processing on mail production equipment.
  • Provides direct customer assistance as required. Furnishes customers with information regarding University postal policy, USPS regulations, and accepted mailing standards.
  • Label and sort campus mailings. Ensure accuracy of campus addresses on a monthly basis
  • Operate ancillary binding equipment as needed.
  • Assist in collating and laminating materials.
  • Prepares finished production for client pickup, campus delivery, or mail.
  • Assist in running Perfect Binder machinery as needed.
  • Assist with supplies inventory.
  • Maintains all postal and mail equipment
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED with two years’ experience.
  • Basic computer operating skills.
  • Knowledge of United States Post Office regulations and local postal facilities.
  • Knowledge of current printing techniques.
  • Ability to accurately sort and process mail, parcels, and accountable mail
  • Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers
  • Technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to operate and maintain electronic metering equipment
  • Ability to follow schedules and meet deadlines
  • Ability to create and provide visual materials and train others.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to accurately sort and process mail, parcels, and accountable mail
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires the ability to lift, with or without assistance, up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
