Clinical Assistant Professor

Job Summary
This Clinical Assistant Professor position will act as a clinical educator in the UWM Communication Sciences & Disorders program, supervising and training student clinicians each semester engaged in assessment and treatment appropriate to meet or exceed ASHA requirements in the area of adult neurologic communication disorders. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. In addition, they will also demonstrate a commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the profession and in academia.

This is a 12-month position. The primary responsibilities of this position will include clinical education (85%) and department, college and university service (15%).



Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology
  • Three years of professional experience in a medical environment
  • ASHA certificate of clinical competence
  • Wisconsin state license in speech-language pathology
  • Experience in clinical supervision of semester length placements for at least two students





Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising at least five students, with one supervision experience taking place within the last 5 years.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching/clinical instruction.
  • Experience supervising undergraduate or graduate student clinicians within a university clinic setting.
  • Experience working with people from diverse cultural, educational and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Completion of a program development or quality improvement project/in-service related to medical Speech Language Pathology.
