Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as a national and global leader in higher education. Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Associate Director for Constituent Engagement, Alumni Relations, in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. This position will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing programs, activities, and communication efforts aimed at growing our alumni and supporter base, building alumni support, and enhancing alumni and supporter involvement and participation. Working under the supervision of the Director of Constituent Engagement, the person serving in this position will help manage, implement and direct all aspects of the external alumni relations programming and communications to deepen alumni engagement and support the efforts of the development officers.Alumni Relations (60%):
Under the direction of the Director of Constituent Engagement, this Associate Director will be responsible for planning, development and execution of SAIS alumni programs and initiatives. More specifically, this person will:
- Manage all regional, international and affinity-based alumni groups by providing support in planning, promoting and implementing a variety of events and strategic alumni relations programs.
- Manage and update guidelines, roles and responsibilities, and
training for programming for volunteer leaders.
- Create opportunities for meaningful engagement of alumni with
current students, and develop programming to engage alumni through
volunteer efforts with the SAIS Admissions, Student Services and
Global Careers offices.
- Identify and implement assessment tools to measure and track
alumni and donor engagement with the goal to increase
participation
- Assist in updating alumni and donor contact information in the
JHU database.
- Analyze and research alumni data in support of alumni
engagement strategies.
Events and Communications (40%):
- In coordination with SAIS Events team and SAIS DAR team, manage the planning of on-campus signature and off-campus SAIS-led alumni events.
- Working closely with SAIS DAR colleagues, manage the
development, writing, design, and distribution of alumni
communications, including but not limited to, email, social media,
newsletters, solicitations, and other emerging modes of
communication.
- Manage the SAIS alumni email accounts and respond to inquiries
by alumni, internal stakeholders, and advancement colleagues, and
assists when possible and appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- A proven and energetic relationship builder with experience working with experience in effectively managing volunteer groups,
- executing programming and special events.
- Communications experience, including familiarity with a variety of communication tools such as newsletters, email communications or social media.
- Ability to function efficiently and as a self-starter in a complex organizational environment demanding high energy, discretion, patience, enthusiasm, and creativity.
- Knowledge of event logistics planning and creating and monitoring event budgets a plus. Flexibility to attend evening and/or weekend events and to travel on an as needed basis.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and prioritize workload. Must be detail-oriented and able to complete projects while adhering to aggressive deadlines.
- Strong verbal/written communication and proofreading skills.
- Must possess exemplary interpersonal skills and demonstrate a genuine appreciation in working with diverse audiences and in a team setting.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester
hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of

be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required
for the respective job.
