Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinctive candidates for a faculty appointment in the Art, Film and Media Department. This is a tenure track position beginning in August 2023. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.

 

Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned MFA in Graphic Design, UI/UX, Web Design, or a related field. Professional design and teaching experience is expected. Extensive experience required in HTML 5 and CSS, along with close acquaintance with Adobe products. Experience with typography, print design, product identity, packaging design, or prototyping helpful. Candidates must be strongly committed to the university mission of developing servant-leaders marked with a passion to minister Christ’s love, grace, and truth to a world in need. Candidates must be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University.

 

Responsibilities

Candidate will teach courses in UI/UX, Web Design, Graphic Design, and related design software. Active, positive participation in and contribution to the life of a vigorous department is expected. Professional service, student advising, faculty governance responsibilities, and chapel attendance are also expected.

 

Department

The Art, Film and Media Department at Taylor University strives to produce professional-caliber artists, designers, illustrators, photographers, teachers and pre-art therapists. The department resides in the 38,000 square-foot Modelle Metcalf Visual Arts Center and currently offers these areas of study: Art Education, Pre-Art Therapy, 2D Studio, 3D Studio, Photography, Illustration, and Graphic Design. Annually, the department enrolls approximately 75-100 majors, with approximately 50-60 in graphic arts-oriented majors. The graphic arts curricula are comprised of courses focusing on graphic art software, Visual Communication, Typography, Layout, Web Design, Web Animation, Product Identity, Photography, Illustration, Art History, and Portfolio Development. Department faculty are practicing studio artists, designers, illustrators, or photographers, or are engaged in significant research. The department offers BA, BS, and BFA degrees.
