SCHEDULE:

  • Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM Days off: Sat/Sun
  • Monday – Friday, 7 AM – 3:30 PM Days off: Sat/Sun
  • Tuesday - Saturday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM Days off: Sun/Mon
  • Sunday - Thursday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM Days off: Fri/Sat

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Requires knowledge of plumbing systems and related gas systems as to repair, maintenance and operation, knowledge of state and local plumbing codes, and the ability to read and work independently from drawings and blueprints. Requires the ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Requires interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. Requires the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet the needs of the unit and its customers. Requires knowledge of underground irrigation systems including the operation and maintenance from main valve to the swing joint and the ability to troubleshoot.

REQUIRED MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Requires a high school diploma or GED, or vocational school degree and minimum of four (4) years’ experience in the plumbing trade. Requires completion or enrollment in a Plumbing Apprenticeship program.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: With or without assistance, must be able to frequently lift and carry equipment and job-related materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires the ability to work in trenches, manholes and wet environments. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, use ramps and work from scaffolds above ground level. Requires the ability to accurately discern colors. Must maintain State of Delaware required Backflow Prevention Certifications in both testing and repair (employee has a six-month window to pass required exams following re-certification class in compliance with current ASSE standards). New employees are to possess or obtain certification within one year of date of hire. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license to drive University of Delaware vehicles.
