The Facilities Technician III - Plumber is responsible for repairs and inspection on all plumbing equipment of all college buildings, including upgrades to older equipment. The Facilities Tech position is required, as a condition of employment, to be on-call on a rotating schedule to return to work outside of their regular work-day due to unforeseen or emergency work.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- This position will perform Plumbing installations and repairs on all 3 campuses.
- Perform various preventive maintenance task on various equipment such as exercising shut off valves, replacing filters on water systems. flushing tanks.
- Other duties will include diagnosing troubles with split A/C systems. And performing preventive maintenance.
- Assist and mentor new department employees
- High School / GED
- 5-8 years general plumbing experience required
- Minimum of 5-8 years of commercial Plumbing experience. General knowledge of basic commercial property management.
- Ability to work alone while considering the safety of students and staff.
- Basic computer skills for e-mail and work order system.
- Work in a variety of different weather conditions. (rain, heat, cold, hurricane).
- Maintain composure while working with other personal on campus. (staff and students).
- Ability to use power and hand tools safely. Ability to work independently and with others including outside vendors.
- Promote a common purpose consistent with stated College goals and demonstrate a commitment to students and the learning environment.
- Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manual related to the job tasks.
- Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
- Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Present a professional image in word, action and attire.
- Demonstrate professionalism in dealing with a diverse population while understanding and respecting each other’s view of the world, personalities and working styles.
- Conduct oneself in a manner consistent with the College’s standards of ethical conduct.
