Job Description
The UMKC Mail Services team is part of the Division of Finance & Administration. Our office provides courier services between the UM campuses and bulk mail preparations. We're seeking a part time Mail Carrier to perform work involving the sorting, delivering and collection of U.S. mail, campus mail, and accountable mail to and from designated buildings and offices of the UMKC Volker and Hospital Hill campus in accordance with prescribed routes.
Key responsibilities:
- Accurately sort incoming mail and distribute to various departments.
- Collect and prepare outgoing mail and examine returned mail pieces.
- May deliver and obtain signed receipt for accountable mail (certified, registered, insured, Express and returned UPS parcels.)
- Coordinate courier services between Volker campuses and Hospital Hill.
- Operate mail vehicles and perform general preventive maintenance (e.g. fill fuel tanks, change tires, etc. as required).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A high school diploma or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
- At least 18 years of age.
- A valid Missouri driver’s license.
- Good physical health to withstand walking occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry a maximum of 70 pounds.
- Above average hand-to-eye coordination.
- Ability to deal with people in a courteous manner.
- Previous experience in mail room operations
Part time, non-benefit-eligible, staff position.
Salary
Up to $15.05 per hour, commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
Shift
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
