Located in Boston's historic Fenway area, Simmons has a strong tradition of empowering women and of challenging traditional gender roles. Simmons University was one of the first higher education institutions to focus on preparing women to become leaders and has evolved to become a university offering a women-centered undergraduate program, with graduate programs open to all. Nutrition related education dates back to one of the original schools of Simmons, that being the School of Home Economics. Once the focus became nutrition, Simmons Nutrition offered a traditional 4-year BS in Nutrition. Today, Simmons Department of Nutrition offers several Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited programs to prepare students to become registered dietitians. These include a traditional 4-year BS program in Nutrition and Dietetics, a post-baccalaureate Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), an MS461 is an elective which you didn't have to take.-DPD, a dietetic internship (DI) program and an MS-DI. We also offer a stand-alone MS in Nutrition and Health Promotion and a 4+1 BS to MS, as well as a Certificate in Sports Nutrition.

Job Summary: The Department of Nutrition in the College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Sciences at Simmons University is seeking a full time (10 month), contract faculty position that will assist in our undergraduate and graduate nutrition programs as well as general education courses. The Nutrition Department offers a ACEND accredited programs including undergraduate BS in nutrition and dietetics or nutrition and wellness, a post-baccalaureate Didactic Program in Dietetics Certificate, and a post-graduate dietetic internship as well as a Master's of Science in Nutrition and Health Promotion. It also offers both an on the ground and online MS in Nutrition and Health Promotion and a graduate Certificate in Sports Nutrition. Primary Responsibilities
The primary position responsibilities include teaching a variety of nutrition classes in a well-established Nutrition Program which values experiential learning, learner-centered educational strategies and strong teaching skills. The faculty member is expected to teach and advise at both undergraduate and graduate levels as well as supervise graduate assistant(s) and coordinate thesis research projects and writing. Potential courses will include nutrition-related general education courses and other nutrition major or minor courses; these may include basic nutrition, food science, nutrient metabolism, clinical dietetics, and other courses associated with didactic undergraduate or graduate curriculum. The faculty member is also expected to participate as a team member in curriculum development and maintenance and in program, department, college and university service activities.
Required Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in nutrition or related field with completion
by December 31, 2021 is preferred (Degree must be from a regionally
accredited or internationally accredited/government certified
university). An MS in Nutrition or related field with at least 5-7
years experience will also be considered.
- A registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and
maintenance of the RDN credential
- An active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
(preferred)
- Candidates with a demonstrated ability to work with students
across a broad range of social and personal identities and
perspectives are sought; Simmons is committed to attracting,

- Experience in teaching courses at the college level.
- Minimum of 2 years professional experience
- Evidence of organizational skills
- Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with
others within the university community
