Senior Events & Technology Support Administrator LA Campus

The Senior Events and Information Technology Support Administrator is responsible for providing support to the Associate Director of Events and IT Help Desk with tasks related to all events and rentals on campus, ranging from location productions, audio post and screening room rentals, conference and meeting rentals and other in-house on campus events, including classroom setup, computer lab, and residence hall wireless internet systems. This position will primarily take the lead on in-house events, and will provide additional support where needed for other rentals. This position may give campus tours to potential renters and will have an in-depth knowledge of the campus layout, resources and functions and will supervise student workers on an as needed basis. May work the weekend or evening shift in working with a team of support personnel.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Responsible for providing end user technical support to students, faculty and staff and work with the Associate Director of Events and IT Help Desk to develop IT operational protocols that will meet service level expectations. Supports classroom technology needs, delivering EDC equipment, ensuring that classroom technology is functioning on a daily basis, and guiding professors through any troubleshooting to ensure classes run smoothly in regards to technology. Provide technical support for all broadcast, audio, and video equipment for classes and special events.
  • Provide technical support for Audio Post-Production facilities.
  • Assist with upgrading all lab, classroom, and ELA staff computers.
  • Assist with IT Network systems design, installation, software and hardware upgrades, repairs, and technical support.
  • Work with and guide the in-house and outsourced technical support teams, providing training as required.
  • Work on IT projects as required, including overseeing the development, prioritization, phasing, and pacing of key initiatives and medium to long-term strategic plans and goals.
  • Collaborate with Boston IT on IT Network systems design, installation, software and hardware upgrades, repairs, and technical support.
  • Provide technical support for the Crestron and Avaya systems.
  • Coordinates annual campus e-waste process.
  • Provides other IT administrative and networking support as needed for computer labs, editing suites, students in residence, sponsored events, student programming and other on campus student, faculty or staff events or programming.
  • The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide information and service to a wide range of internal and external contacts; knowledge of College and departmental policies and procedures; the ability to establish, implement, and coordinate organizational systems and events processes, as well as the ability to prioritize, identify and resolve events technology problems.
  • Responsible for regular classroom checks and support during classes, monitoring of printer lab stock, updating calendars to reflect upcoming events.
  • Supports the IT helpdesk and responds to incoming tickets; organizes or collaborates on special events and other ad hoc special projects as assigned.
  • Regularly interfaces with Boston IT to ensure Emerson standards across campuses are met for a continuity of service.
  • Recommends improvements, repairs, preventative maintenance, and/or new systems for consideration for implementation on the ELA campus.
  • Provide regular inventory checks and reports of EDC and non-EDC technical equipment on an annual basis.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed and appropriate.


QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
  • Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of related experience, or an equivalent of education plus experience in an IT Help Desk or other customer facing environment preferred.
  • 5-10 years of previous experience in networking required, including specific experience working with Security cameras, CBORD, and Network systems
  • Previous experience working with Juniper network switches required
  • Certification in CISM preferred
  • Previous help desk experience in a college or university setting preferred
  • Proven experience as an IT Technician or relevant position.
  • Experience with a range of audiovisual and production-level audio and video equipment preferred.

  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required
  • Hardware: Knowledge of Apple computers and mobile devices (iPads/iPhones), IP telephones, printers, and other network-connected devices preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency and proficiency in Workday, Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Doc, Drive, Sheet), Microsoft Office Suite (specifically MS Word and Excel), and related computer software applications and electronic communications tools.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with experience providing complex administrative support in a high-profile environment with tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Ability to clearly communicate to end users.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work across teams and multi-task with a variety of deadlines, projects, and diverse constituencies while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong planning, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent skills in all aspects of planning, collaboration, analytical capabilities, and high level of attention to detail and proactive awareness.

Compensation

Starting salary for this position will be between $64,480 and $74,796 commensurate with experience.

Grade of Position: 23-08E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
