Job Description

The Resident in Social Work is a position for an unlicensed graduate from a master’s in social work program who is interested in collegiate mental health. The individual will provide individual and group therapy for students, conduct crisis intervention services, provide outreach presentations to the university, and provide occasional after hours, on call services. The individual will receive weekly individual and small group supervision with the goal of licensure within two years. The individual will be expected to prepare for the social work licensing exam and study materials will be provided. Funding for this individual comes from grant support from the State Council for Higher Education for Virginia. This is a two-year, restricted position but it is anticipated that the successful candidate will be able to transition into a permanent position once licensure is obtained.

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Social Work. Eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Supervision will be provided with the goal of licensure within two years of hire.
