This position provides leadership and coordination for the university technology infrastructure. While serving as a member of the Office of Information Technology’s ( OIT ) leadership team, this position will be involved in the development and implementation of a variety of institutional strategic, tactical, communication, and other plans, projects, and initiatives. This position is responsible for directing the activities of the OIT infrastructure team, ensuring the provision of consistent and superior services, while also providing professional development opportunities as needed for continued success and growth. Provides strategic visioning and solutioning for the university’s technology infrastructure including network servers/workstations, telecommunications, wireless connectivity, databases, information systems and information security, which includes Active Directory, Identity Management, and Integration Methodologies for third-party platforms. As a member of the OIT department this position strives to ensure consistency in communications, actions, and alignment to the strategic plan of the university. This position is also responsible for supporting the mission of the university by delivering technology, services, solutions and guidance to the students, faculty, staff and the community in a professional, exemplary, service oriented collaborative manner.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Establishes, plans and administers the overall policies and goals for Information Technology, including long-term and day-to-day activities (staff/student how-to’s, training, customer services, end-user computing, lab/classrooms and conference room support.
  • Participates in all programs and enforces all policies relating to performance evaluations and career development planning. Facilitates the technology governance framework to include requests, feasibility, funding allocation, implementation, and quality assurance.
  • Plans and implements additions, deletions, major modifications, upgrades/updates to university technology equipment in support of teaching and learning.
  • Anticipates future technology needs, refresh plans and service level management and reporting.
  • Helps establish and build relationships with vendors in conjunction with executive leadership.
  • Promotes the university through speaking engagements and involvement with the campus community, community at large and with the business community.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

$123,467.00 - $160,508.00

Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Information Technology, Business or closely related discipline.

Knowledge of:
  • Policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Complex systems and procedures.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge in multiple disciplines. Acts as the ultimate subject matter expert in several professional disciplines and is the “go-to” expert on principles, methods and procedures. Requires the ability to create methods and approaches to handle unique situations.
  • This position should be categorized as not only an organizational leadership role, but also as a thought leader providing leadership to IT and non-IT departments through guidance.
  • Recent industry trends and standards and future directions of technology in the learning environment, office administration, and ability to effectively advocate for new ideas.
  • Must have outstanding written/oral communication and analytical skills, excellent presentation skills, and the ability to communicate on both a technical and business level.
  • Must be proficient in IT project management.
  • Must have knowledge of the administration of domain user accounts, file and folder permissions, DHCP, DNS, RRAS, or other network services.
  • Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, or Power Point.
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
