Position Summary: Admissions Counselors manage an assigned recruitment territory and/or population and is charged with recruiting prospective students to attend Washburn University through recruitment at college fairs, school visits, on-campus visits and events, and other programming with recruitment opportunities.

Essential Functions:
• Develop and carry out a recruitment travel schedule based around attending college fairs and visiting schools in the assigned recruitment territory.

• Identify and recruit prospective students by developing strong rapport with appropriate high school and/or community college personnel.

• Develop and maintain a list of applicants within the assigned recruitment territory and provide support and guidance to applicants throughout the admissions and college decision processes including completion of the FAFSA, housing application or exemption, New Student Orientation registration, and more.

• Build meaningful professional relationships with high school and/or community college personnel, prospective students, and their families through regular personalized outreach efforts including phone, e-mail, in-person contact, and other relevant mediums.

• Interperet and analyze data to inform strategic recruitment decisions.

• Assist in the execution of on campus recruitment events, personalized campus visits, and other recruitment events.

• Develop and deliver presentations to prospective students, families, school counselors/advisors, and other relevant personnel.

• Recommend and, upon approval from the Director or Associate Director, award admissions scholarships to qualifying prospective students.

• Assist with the execution of programs such as the Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) and Ichabod Senior Academy.

• Effectively use software programs Ellucian CRM Recruit and Ellucian ERP Banner.

• Provide supplemental support as needed for processing applications and transcripts, administering admissions decisions, and other related duties.

• Assist in supervising student employees of the Admissions Office.

• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (or degree completion by the end of the semester of hire)
Experience in collegiate admissions, recruitment, sales, or other related areas.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively independently and within a team construct.
Demonstratable ability and commitment to building effective professional relationships with a variety of people, including those from under-represented and diverse populations.
Ability to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with many interruptions while adhering to deadlines.
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word software.
Ability to work outside of regular business hours as needed.
A valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable by University standards.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, pushing and pulling, and visual acuity.
Ability to sit and stand intermittently, and walk frequently.
Ability to bend/stoop and occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to twenty-five pounds.
Ability to work at a desk and computer station for various lengths of time including sitting and/or standing, viewing a monitor, and repetitive use of keyboard, mouse, and phone.

Preferred Qualifications:
Professional experience working in collegiate admissions or recruitment.
Ability to speak Spanish.
Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) software.
